Montbello Middle School Commitment to Black Excellence

Montbello Middle School is committed to empowering Black students and families through authentic academic access, inclusive representation, active advocacy, culturally responsive practices, and supportive community spaces that foster success and achievement.

Black Excellence

By prioritizing culturally responsive strategies, adult professional development, positive behavior incentives, attendance celebrations, and focused student work analysis within data teams, Montbello is dedicated to increasing academic achievement for our Black students.

At Montbello Middle School:

• Black students have access to rigorous, grade-level academic instruction.
• Black students and families feel welcomed, heard, and empowered to advocate for their needs and goals.
• Black families are included as valued partners in the school’s decision-making processes.
• Black students and families are intentionally represented in both our physical spaces and our curriculum.
• Black students have access to an affinity space through the Black Student Alliance, along with multiple empowering experiences and conference opportunities throughout the school year.

Montbello Middle School remains steadfast in creating an environment where Black excellence is recognized, supported, and celebrated every day.
