Students must be approved and cleared to participate in official practices and tryouts.
In order for your student to participate in tryouts and official practices, your student must have:
A completed and submitted Arbiter registration form (Login for Families and search for your middle school)
A current physical exam uploaded into Arbiter or on file with the Middle School Athletic Director (see recommended physical form linked above)

Physical Forms for 2026-27Last school year, the CHSAA membership started only accepting the following forms for documentation of physical exams at the high school level. The form is not required for middle school, however we recommend that our middle school families also start to use these forms for the physical exam documentation:PPE Form – ALL PAGES 1-4PPE Form – ALL PAGES 1-4 – SpanishPay to Play Fee IncreaseThe 2026-2027 pay to play fees will be $37 per sport or the free and reduced lunch rate of $27 per sport.
My Spark Denver – DPS FoundationThe DPS Foundation officially acquired the My Spark Denver program in 2025. Please encourage your middle school students and their families to participate in My Spark Denver. This program is for students ages 11-14 who qualify for free/reduced lunch and provides them with financial assistance (up to $1,000) to be used to enroll in various after school and extracurricular activities. Please visit their website (linked here) for more information. Per their website, they have an update on their registration/application process:”Our registration process for next year has changed, we no longer have an application. When families are enrolling for school there is an option to automatically opt-in to the My Spark Scholarship Lottery. If you did not select the opt-in option please take 2 minutes to fill out this quick form to secure your spot on the My Spark Scholarship Waitlist. You will be notified in September whether or not you have received the My Spark Scholarship.” Messaging Students and Families: Thrillshare RoomsAll school-based employees have access to Thrillshare Rooms, a platform that provides translated room-level, two-way communication to families from teachers, paraprofessionals, counselors, coaches, and others. Thrillshare Rooms integrates directly into the suite of Thrillshare products DPS provides including Alerts, Engage and CMS.With the launch of Thrillshare Rooms, DPS will discontinue its support and data connections to all other two-way communication tools currently used in schools.
Students Without a Program
If the school the student attends offers a sport or program, the student must participate at the school they are attending. If your student attends a school that does not offer a program, the students may try out and participate at a school that does offer the program. The following requirements should be taken into consideration: If the school of attendance does not offer the athletic program:Students should identify a school that offers the most options based on their interests. (Students should not be participating at multiple schools. Students should only be playing at their school of attendance and one other school if needed).Students are encouraged to select the school closest to them based on school of attendance or home address.Students may choose a program that is in their district of attendance or their district of residence.
